Tendering Authority: GENERAL DIRECTORATE OF STATE HYDRAULIC WORKS

Value: 71,145,400$

Start: 1997

State: Completed

It includes irrigation of 15.000ha area in Şanlıurfa Harran Plain with piped network. It is a construction for the irrigation of Upper Harran, Viranşehir, Ceylanpınar and Mardin plains. In order to irrigate the agricultural land, the irrigation and drainage network and the structures on this network were built within the scope of the project.
The main canal, GRP, HDPE and Steel Pipelines, all kinds of electrical and mechanical equipment (valve, armature, flow control, etc.) are included in the project, which has an irrigation area of 13 455 hectares within the borders of Şanlıurfa province. Harran Plains Irrigation Network Construction was tendered and controlled by the 15th Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works and supervised by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works.
Project Summary : Irrigation and drainage network under construction with 205 m/s transmission capacity for irrigation of 5 km ~ 8 km wide and 60 km long agricultural land between Mardin-Ceylanpınar open main canal and Harran open main canal so that Yukarı Harran, Viranşehir, Ceylanpınar and Mardin plains could continue to be irrigated. Within the scope of this project, the construction of structures on this network continued and completed.

Pressure network design for three different classes of irrigation systems are present in the project; Open main channel low pressure irrigation at the top, California system in the middle, sprinkler irrigation at the bottom, irrigation hydrants and other hydraulic line elements were selected and the project was designed accordingly. Fiberglass reinforced polyester (GRP) pipe and asbestos cement pipe followed by HDPE 100 pipe were considered suitable as pipe types. The work, the construction of which started in 1997, is completed by the end of 2009, consisting of approximately 450 km of pipes of different diameters, pipe fittings, irrigation hydrants, 250 km of drainage lines and related installations, engineering structures and operation and maintenance road next to the main lines. In addition, HDPE 100 pipe irrigation waiting line consisting of 17 branches is installed.
